The Helen Bernstein Professional Development Center

When the Helen Bernstein Professional Development Center opened its doors, UTLA became one of the only local unions in the state with its own professional development center. The center plays a key role in the strength of UTLA - it is where hundreds of Chapter Chairs receive training in teacher's rights and union structure. From the New Teacher Training Academy to salary point classes in multicultural education, The HBPDC is dedicated to encouraging professional growth for our members at all stages of their careers.
